Happy Mabon!

It’s no coincidence that this website, juvinaortega.com, launched on Day of Mabon. As the “Season Wheel” of the year comes to an end, Mabon is a good time to let go of the past year and set some new personal goals. For me, it was finally putting myself out there creatively. If this pandemic has taught us anything, it is that nothing is for certain and there is no “right time”. So just like the crisp fall air and changing fall leave, we have more capacity to live life to the fullest while all facing the same sea of mystery.

Mabon celebrates a time to give thanks for the abundance of Mother Earth. It’s a great time to reflect on the wheel of the year, recognizing your successes and letting go of the things that did not serve you spiritually and literally in the past year.

A simple celebration of Mabon, can be easily done at bedtime by either journaling all your past blessings or a five minute meditation that can restore a little balance into your life. When you are doing any of the two, think of the things you’re glad you have in your life. Maybe it’s small things like “I’m happy that I have my cat Onyii” or “I’m happy to have that special friend/ partner/ sister to fall back on whenever”. Maybe it’s something bigger like “I’m thankful I have a warm home and food to eat” or "I’m thankful people love me even when I’m not feeling my best”.

Keep this list in some place you can see it, and add to it when the mood strikes. Reflect on this list when you start to feel down and always remember, we are all in this!
